Whistler is surviving the challenges of the world wide financial markets quite well and preparation for the upcoming ski season is bringing excitement into the Village. Overall rental bookings are off last years pace but with the drop in the Canadian dollar we are starting to see an increase in US skiers making reservations and the expectation is for that to continue if our dollar stays in the current trading range.
All this uncertainty has created some great buying opportunities in Whistler as prices were stable or slightly down from 2003 through 2006 - with only slight appreciation in 2007. Current sales values are approximately 10% - 15% off the highs of last year and in many cases below the 2002-2003 highs - there are some great buys available. Contrary to what some people think we are still selling properties and anyone who has purchased recently has been able to buy a Whistler property at a great price.
The best thought I can share for buying now is “With Confusion Comes Opportunity” Everybody wants to get the best price when they purchase property but most people won’t make the buying decision when the best opportunities present themselves – It’s Here Now!
