If you are thinking about moving to whistler and are seeking information on accommodations, real estate, and/or employment opportunities, we've compiled a Moving to Whistler Directory to assist you.

Employment Opportunities

Employment is readily found in Whistler, however, the resort is an international destination and the cost of living is typically higher than many other British Columbia towns. Long-term accommodation in Whistler can also be challenging to find unless you are purchasing a property.

Whistler Rental Accommodations

The best time to find a house, suite or condominium to rent is typically May and June when many seasonal employees leave after the winter season. The best source for rental listings is either of the main newspapers classifieds (listed above). If you are looking for long term accommodations you should sign a lease for a minimum of 1 year. Landlords will ask for references and proof of employment and they are entitled to the first month's rent and damage deposit of up to a half-month's rent up front. Some employers have staff accommodations available, including The Fairmont Chateau Whistler and Whistler Blackcomb.

The Whistler Housing Authority also has rental listings, in addition to a housing registry for residents who have lived in Whistler for one year or longer and want to purchase.

Whistler Community Services publishes the annual Whistler Survival Guide, offering invaluable information for newcomers to Whistler.

Residential Tenancy Office provides information on tenant and landlord rights in British Columbia.
